Candle Care and Tips
Extending the Life of Your Concrete Candle
At Dom Alexander Designs, we believe in enduring beauty. Your concrete candle is designed for exceptional fragrance and a long, clean burn, and its vessel can be easily reused. Here’s how to care for your candle and give its unique container a second life:
Initial Burn Instructions & Beyond
For the very first lighting of your concrete candle, allow it to burn for at least 2-3 hours. Due to the excellent insulation of the concrete vessel, these candles tend to burn cooler and slower, so the wax may not melt fully to the edges on this first go. This is perfectly normal! Rest assured, on subsequent burns, the heat will build and the melt pool will gradually expand to the edges, ensuring a complete and even burn throughout the candle's life.
Wick Trimming for Optimal Performance
Before each subsequent burn, ensure your cotton wick is trimmed to approximately 1/4 inch. A trimmed wick promotes a cleaner flame, reduces soot, and helps your candle burn efficiently.
Candle Safety Essentials
Always position your lit candle on a stable, heat-safe surface, away from drafts, anything flammable, and out of reach of children and pets. Never leave a burning candle unattended.
Reuse & Refill Your Concrete Vessel
When your candle wax dwindles to about 1/2 inch, your concrete vessel is ready for a new chapter! Its durable and beautiful design is perfect for repurposing.
To easily remove leftover wax:
- Simply place the concrete vessel in the freezer overnight. The cold will make the wax shrink.
- The next morning, the hardened wax should easily lift out with a gentle nudge from a butter knife.
Now your beautiful concrete vessel is ready for a new life! You you can find drop-in refills available for purchase directly on our website, or get creative and reuse the container for anything from holding succulents to organizing desk supplies or displaying small treasures.
